About the Collection

The enchanting Lacewing Fairy Collection is full of irresistible, original fairy creations in various sizes. The fairies are individually handcrafted in exquisite detail using quality textiles and other materials, which are sourced locally, whenever possible. Some fairies incorporate vintage/antique finery. There are no identical twins in the collection – each one is different, and the hand-painted faces give each fairy its own personality. They are beautifully presented in handcrafted display boxes which are made locally.

Fairy bodies are made from fabric, ribbon or other textiles, which are then covered in hand stitched decorative beading. Fabric armbands are also decorated with beading. Heads, arms and legs are made of wood, which are then painted. Translucent wings are embellished with beads, sequins and other types of decoration, and wands comprise a selection of beads, sequins and stars twisted onto wire. A variety of ribbons, beads and flowers are incorporated into the headdresses/crowns, and silver or gold metallic threads are used for the chic, bobbed hair. Dresses are made from a combination of fabrics, ribbons, lace, net, threads, knitting yarns and anything else which comes to hand, including handmade paper!

These unusual, collectible fairies are suitable as gifts for many special occasions including Mother’s Day, Easter, Birthdays, Weddings, Christenings, Anniversaries and Christmas, or simply to say ‘thank you’, ‘good luck’ or ‘sorry’. The start of a personal collection is also an option!

There will also be themed ranges including Goth, Punk, Pagan, Hippy, Seashore, Woodland, Hedgerow, Four Seasons, Button and Zodiac Signs - choices will be virtually limitless! New products in development include mobiles, box framed fairies, greetings/gift cards, postcards, calendars and posters.

Commissions happily undertaken for all sizes of fairies, and if special fabrics or materials need to be sourced, prices will be agreed in advance. In the case of weddings, fabric can be used from the dresses of the bride or bridesmaids. Similarly, if a favourite dress or other item of clothing has been ‘resting’ in a wardrobe or drawer for many years, the fabric could be incorporated into a fairy as a memory of an enjoyable occasion when wearing it, or a reminder of a special person.
